Laycca Umer
New York Hall of Science
Research Assistant/Program Coordinator
Laycca has a B.S. in Childhood Education/Psychology and a M.S. in TESOL from CUNY City College. She has worked in formal and informal learning environments since 2012, and is passionate about finding solutions for underserved and underrepresented populations to have access to equitable learning opportunities. At NYSCI, she uses formative research approaches to inform the development of innovative learning tools. Through this work, she integrates new curriculum and technology in purposeful and meaningful ways to bridge the gap between the informal, playful, and creative museum education experience with the often more structured, disengaging, traditional classroom learning experience.
